Haunting 101/Transcript

[Newbury High School, The Hidden Side. Vaughn’s car stops in front of the school. The building has large green eyes with red pupils that glare at the car. Jack rolls down the window.]

Jack: [draws his phone] Wow! I can use my phone to see from the Hidden Side to the Real World!

Vaughn: Hmm! Work mill sure have changed.

Jack: Work mill? [chuckles] This is a school!

Vaughn: A school? You teach children? And who works in the mills? [Gets out of the car].

Jack: [sighs]

[Scene cuts to Jack slowing and carefully opening the school's main door. Vaughn shoves him in and enters without fear.]

Jack: [Walking with Vaughn though the hallway, the wholes on the walls and a locker seem to growl at them] Just when I thought school couldn't get any worse. [Looks back to his phone] Come on, Parker! Please be here! [Spots Parker running towards J.B.] There she is!

Parker: Have you seen Jack?

J.B.: No. Why?

Parker: I haven't seen him since the subway! I thought he just lost his phone. What if?!...Oh, no! I gotta find him!

[Parker runs off while J.B. stares after her with a confused look on her face. Jack runs after her but stops and tries to get her attention.]

Jack: I'm right here! Agh! [shakes his hand in front of J.B.] They can't see me. [J.B. phases though Jack and Vaughn as she walks away.]

[Cut to Mr. Clarke who is talking to a boy until he sees Parker running in his direction and blocks her path.]

Mr. Clarke: Um, excuse me? Class is that way [points towards the classroom].

Parker: But I-

Mr. Clarke: I heard every excuse in the book! [points at her] You are going to class!

Parker: [sighs angrily and gives up.]

Mr. Clarke: [signals for her to enter the room] This way, young lady.

[Parker enters the classroom with Mr. Clarke in tow.]

Jack: Come on, Vaughn! Parker is my ticket out of here! [follows them inside.]

[Scene cuts to Mr. Clarke's classroom. Jack walks up to Parker, who looks at Jack's empty desk before looking away. Jack moves to stand in front of her, his expression neutral then slowly grinning at her.]

Parker: [sighs sadly] As soon as that bell rings, [she slams her fist into her desk.] I'll find you, Jack.

Jack: Agh! [his voice echoes strangely around the room.]I just need her to use her app then she'll see me!...That's it! I gotta haunt her! [He tries to act like a ghost, waving his arms around in front of Parker, but her transparent form ripples when he touches it..] Ooooh! See Jaaack! Seee Jaaaack! [Nothing happens].

Vaughn: Ha! Naive? You'll need a Soul Artifact to haunt the living side, something neither of us have.

Jack: But I'm FROM the living side! [Parker's head shoots up.] Arrgh! [Jack shoves Parker's desk forward.]

Parker: Hey [Parker looks at the person behind her.]! Don't push my desk! [The person behind Parker shrugs and gives her a confused look.]

[Jack looks down at his hands as they fade in and out.]

Jack: What the heck was that?

Vaughn: Hmm, it appears haunting weakens your connection to the living side, as does staying here.

Jack: Then I really need Parker. [His expression changes.] I guess I'mma haunt the hot lunch out of this school! [Begins walking towards the classroom door.]

Vaughn: Huh. Still can't believe it's a school.

[Jack repeatedly flips the light switch on and off.]

Parker: Ugh. Florescent lights are the worst.

[Jack's body begins to flicker.]

Jack: Arrgh! Come on! [Jack thinks for a moment.] I got it!

[Jack appears from underneath Parker's desk and repeatedly flips the pages of her book.]

Parker: [She slams her hands down on the book, stopping Jack from turning the pages.] Ugh, drafty old building.

Jack: ARRGH! [Jack slams his hands on the desk. Parker jumps at the sound.] Dang it!

[The scene changes to Parker eating her lunch. She sets her sandwich down on the table an drinks her soda. Jack squeezes the jelly out of her sandwich while she isn't looking and forms a smiley face.]

Parker: [Laughs.] I am such a slob sometimes!

Jack: REALLY?! [The bell rings. Vaughn is startled by the noise and aims his crossbow towards the ceiling. Parker runs out of the classroom.

Jack: [Parker runs towards the stairs.] No, wait, Parker! Come back! Oh, where's she going? [Vaughn and Jack run down the stairs to the middle landing.] I won't last another day here!

Vaughn: [Grabs Jack's shoulder.] Listen, kid. You need to channel that fear. Haunting is all about scaring. You need to truly scare this Parker gal.

Jack: But nothing scares her!

Vaughn: I think losing you does.

[Jack looks over towards the entrance of the school. He looks and his hands fading in and out to reveal Parker running towards the entrance.]

Jack: PAAAAAAAAAAARKERRRRRRRRRRR! [Parker notices something and turns around. Jack appears in her vision for about a second and fades away.]

Parker: Jack? [Parker runs towards the stairwell and takes her phone out. She sees Jack and Vaughn through the scanner.] Jack! [Jack waves towards Parker.] And... great great great great Grandpa Vaughn?

Vaughn: Ah, I knew she looked familiar! [Laughs.]
